Being 40 (-ish), I am always looking for skin care that can slow down the aging process. I am fairly lucky with my skin (not many wrinkles), but I do have red areas and larger pores, which help show that my skin is not as young as it used to be!

System Absolute Beauty Fluid ($92.99, 1.7 oz) : A potent antioxidant gel which hydrates and strengthens skin’s resistance to environmental damage. I love this light gel that instantly absorbs into the skin and gives my skin a nice glow.
System Absolute Day Cream ($109.99, 1.7 oz): A rich cream which provides intensive hydration, care, and protection against environmental damage. This cream is nice, but is a bit heavy for me. I have to wait a while after application to put my makeup on.
System Absolute Night Cream ($109.99, 1.7 oz): A luxurious cream which works to smooth, restore suppleness, repair environmental damage, support regeneration, and replenish moisture and oil. The cream is too heavy for me that it borders on greasy. My skin does look good in the morning after use, but I have been breaking out.
After a few weeks of trying these products, I have found that I really like them. I do think they are made for skin a little more mature than mine, but I will continue to use the cleanser and beauty fluid as I enjoy the feeling and results I get with these products.

Pevonia Botanica is an elite spa-exclusive natural skincare brand. Treatments are given at their spas, but the home products are touted to help people maintain healthy, youthful-looking skin. The website states that, ”Pevonia Botanica is passionately committed to providing effective skincare solutions to teens, women, and men of every age and ethnicity.”
I really like that “Pevonia International believes that protecting and preserving the planet is a global responsibility.” They offer natural, cruelty-free formulations in eco-packaging (fully recyclable and biodegradable). I tried a few different types of products from this line:
Youthful Lip Cream ($48.00) The claim is that “this combines the repairing effects of Retinol with regenerating Collagen and Elastin, to smooth lines, hydrate, prevent wrinkles, and even coloring. Your lips are rendered smoothly toned and lusciously rejuvenated.” I have been using this every night and some mornings for a couple of weeks. I apply it around my lip line first, then rub it in and around my lips. It is non-greasy and fragrance free, just like a light lotion. I have noticed that my lips to look smoother and a little plumper, probably because the lines are diminishing. Very nice!
Restore Neck & Bust Cream ($62.00) is touted to ”firm and tone your delicate neck, bust and décolleté. A potent blend of Kigelia Africana, Elastin, and Vitamin E reduces visible signs of aging, smoothes overall texture and improves skin elasticity for a visibly, youthfully restored neck and bust/chest.” This is a luxurious product that smells like sweet flowers, (maybe lilacs or gardenia?) and is thick and creamy. I my neck and chest are in pretty good shape, so I haven’t noticed much of a change, but I feel great using the product and it is quite lovely!
Blemish B Gone ($24.00) “Radically effective, this spot treatment heals blemishes through a Micro-Matrix advanced time-release delivery system with Organic Benzoyl Peroxide and Organic Salicylic Acid. It counteracts bacteria, preventing future breakouts and hyperpigmentation.” Even though I’m forty (something), I still break out once in a while. Yuck! I like to apply this extremely gentle cream at night and in the morning my pimple is smaller! After a few day it is completely gone. Yay!

The products are safe and claim to strengthen color-treated and delicate hair. I like to wash with the shampoo then apply the very thick conditioner and leave it on in the bath or shower for a few minutes. When I rinse it out, my hair is noticeably smoother.

I have begun the think about Mother’s Day (May 10th) and what I’m going to get for my mother and mother-in-law. Being a beauty blogger, I love giving products that I have tried and enjoyed. Great hint for your mom or other cool lady you love — Carol’s Daughter!
Talk about pampering! The products from this line are rich, luxurious and soothing and are made from natural ingredients. I recommend trying and giving some of these goodies:
Almond Cookie Shea Souffle ($13.00 – 30.00 USD) — This is a whipped body butter. If you love the scent of almonds, this is a good one! The fragrance is a combination of almonds blended with marzipan, sandalwood and musk. It goes on almond-y and dries down to a powdery scent that lingers all day. Even when I’m not wearing perfume, people comment that I smell so good! And it leaves my skin VERY soft.
If your looking for a highly pigmented lip gloss, try Candy Paint ($13.50 USD). - I like that this moisturizing gloss is not too sticky and that the color is well pigmented. It is infused with natural ingredients such as grapeseed oil, shea butter, aloe vera extract and vitamin E to hydrate, condition, protect and soothe your lips. The gloss comes in 15 shades, so their is a great selection. I really like the Bubbling Brown Sugar which is a shimmering bronze that is much darker in the tube then on. Very pretty!
Tui Hair Smoothie ($19.00 USD) — This is essentially a hair mask that you can leave on a few to about 15 minutes to get the conditioning that you need. It is rich in essential oils and Shea and Cocoa butters that provide moisture and protection. My hair gets very dry and frizzy in the Kansas City humidity and I find that this really helps. Kiss My Face makes natural and organic skin care. I was lucky enough to try items from their Potent & Pure line. The system was created by combining scientific knowledge with botanicals, vitamins, extracts and minerals. Potent & Pure is safe for sensitive skin and does not contain parabens, phthalates, SLS, artificial colors and fragrances, and is not tested on animals.
The products I tried are:
Start Up® Exfoliating Face Wash ($15.00 USD) “Cleanse and exfoliate skin with organic ingredients. Clarify, cleanse and luminize skin with this revitalizing blend of natural green tea and other pure renewable plant sources, many certified organic. Gently exfoliate with natural fruit acids.” Contains Natural Fruit Acids, Lemongrass oil and green tea.
Shea Soy Facial Cleansing Bar ( $13.00 USD ) – “Gently cleanse and calm with organic ingredients. This creamy, fragrance free bar contains organic oils, shea butter and aloe to moisturize while you cleanse. Your skin will feel fresh, smooth and hydrated.” Contains shea butter, aloe and soy oil.
Cell Mate® Face Crème & SOF 10 Sunscreen ($21.00 USD) – “Lightly moisturize and protect skin while reducing the signs of aging with organic ingredients. Instantly enhance skin tone, reduce fine lines and protect from environmental stresses. Antioxidant vitamins and botanicals soothe and revitalize throughout the day while natural mineral sun block helps protect skin.” Contains titanium dioxide, lavender and horsetail.
Eyewitness™ Eye Repair Crème ($19.00 USD) – ”Reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness with organic ingredients. Smooth the appearance of wrinkles and moisturize the delicate skin around your eyes. Natural and organic oils and butters leave skin looking hydrated and rejuvenated.” Contains hawthorne Bery exrract, shea butter and rose hips.
So Refined® Jojoba & Mint Facial Scrub ($15.00 USD) – ”Exfoliate and polish the skin’s appearance with organic ingredients. This non-drying, natural humectant gently exfoliates and purifies skin by removing dirt with organic jojoba beads and other natural and organic herbs and plant oils. Helps skin look visibly younger and refreshed.” Contains jojoba beads grapeseed oil and mint.
Pore Shrink™ Deep Cleansing Mask $15.00 – “Organic ingredients detoxify skin and diminish the appearance of pores. This deep cleaning clay mask helps to remove oils and bacteria from the skin. Cloves, tea tree, lemongrass and other natural, organic and aromatherapeutic® botanical extracts clean and smooth skin’s appearance. Contains bentonite clay, teat tree oil and lemon grass oil.”
I really liked both the face wash and the cleansing bar. My skin is combination, so both worked for me. The face wash smells citrusy and is refreshing. The bar is very mild. Both left my skin clean and fresh-feeling. Also very cleansing, (and exfoliating) is the facial scrub. This smells very minty and feels great on. Once its rinsed off, my face is very smooth.
My favorite product is the cleansing mask. I love clay masks. They get rid of all of the gunk in the pores. Plus it is green and I got to chase my 5 year old around screaming, “Green Mommy Monster”, so that was a plus!
Probably my least favorite was the face cream. Since it does contain sunscreen, it left a white film on my face that took a while to soak in. I had to wait a bit in the morning to apply my makeup. Besides that, it is a nice cream as is the eye cream.

Aveda’s vision is to, “connect beauty, environment and well-being”. Their wonderful spa products that are infused with natural ingredients, seem to do just that.
I have tried both the Shampure shampoo and conditioner. The products in this line are very gentle and good for every type of hair.
Shampure Shampoo ($9.50 USD for 8.5 oz) – “Our pure, gentle daily shampoo—with MorikueTMprotein—cleanses and fortifies any type of hair. Infusing it with one of Aveda’s original aromas: a calming mix of 25 pure flower and plant essences.” Coriander oil, Eucalyptus oil, Lavender oil, MorikueTM protein, Orange oil bitter, Wheat conditioners, and Babassu are some of the ingredients.
Aveda Shampure Conditioner ($9.50 USD for 8.5 oz) — “provides daily protection from environmental stress and damage.” The conditioner has the same basic ingredients of the shampoo. I really like both products because they clean and moisturize my hair without harsh chemicals leaving me with soft, silky hair.

My favorite products from the line are the Refining Treatment and the Eye Cream. The Refining treatment is a really great scrub that gets rid of all of the dead skin and impurities. And the Eye Cream! Wow, my eyes look smooth and very young right now! I definitely recommend the Eye Cream because its a really effective natural product!

Ylang Ylang d’amore
I love discovering new products that are a little bit different. The Cream Perfume Company is the creator of Nuts, cream perfume that concentrates the fragrance oils in a combination of beeswax and sweet almond oil instead of in alcohol. This is much better for the skin and lasts a long time.
The cream perfumes ($19.95 USD for .35 oz) are very environmentally friendly. They use 100% natural ingredients and some of the perfumes are 100% organic. They also come in a cute little container (that resembles an acorn, hence the name Nuts) made out of residual wood from small mills.
My two favorite scents (so far) are:
Mango Poudre: “Truly seductive scents of mango and cassis balanced with timeless jasmin and candy sugar accord. A tropical favorite with sandalwood, musk and vanilla.” This scent starts out sweet, but when you breath it in you get the depth of the sandalwood and musk. I love this now, but think it will be even nicer when it gets hot this summer.
Ylang Ylang d’amore” “Enjoy exhilarating scents of ylang ylang, mandarin and jasmine in this classic perfume. Trailed by notes of apricot, cedarwood, orange flower, patchouli and musk.” I love this powdery, spicy fragrance. It is very exotic, but soft enough to wear day or night time.
