ApHogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair

ApHogee GlossTherapy Polisher
ApHogee is a product line that was developed as a serious approach to hair care. The website states, “it has been proven that superior results require healthy hair with structural integrity and a proper balance of strength, elasticity, and smoothness. This is why ApHogee products include our exclusive PropHytamine Complex which utilizes precise levels of proteins, emollients, and humectants to achieve and maintain healthy hair.”
The cool thing about this line is that it can be used on all types and textures of hair including color-treated, permed and relaxed. It is touted to help in the treatment of severe hair damage, and the correction of dryness, dullness, brittleness, limpness, splitting, and frizz. Two of my favorite ApHogee products are.
Shampoo for Damaged Hair ($7.99) — This rich, luxurious shampoo was created to clean gently and to not harm color, perm or relaxer services. It contains proteins, emollients and vitamins to restore sheen and pliability to hair and can be used safely everyday on chemically treated hair. My hair gets so frizzy in the summer and I see an immediate difference after I use this shampoo. It instantly makes my hair soft and flowy. And it smells very refreshing and a bit citrusy.
Gloss Therapy Hair Polish – ($8.99) – This is a great, non-greasy hair gloss. Use a dime size on towel dried hair if it is fine, and apply more for coarser, thicker hair. It smooths, detangles and fixes split ends. Plus it shields hair against UV damage and frizz while brightening highlights.

Straight Making No Frizz Styling Spray for Fine to Medium Hair
Living Proof is a company started by MIT scientists who are setting out to tackle some of the difficult beauty problems of our time!
Their first product is No Frizz, a hair spray or cream that works on different textures of hair to fight the frizzies. It is available for straight or way hair that is fine to medium, medium to thick and thick to coarse.
I have been using the Straight Making No Frizz Styling Spray for Fine to Medium Hair ($14.00 1.7 oz, $24.00 3.4 oz). First of all, it smells fantastic! As per the instructions, I spray it on wet hair and then blow it dry. I was really excited to try this product, but it doesn’t really work for my hair. It is still frizzy. I watched the videos and followed the instructions, but my hair is still fairly frizzy.
Don’t get me wrong, it may work on other people. Sephora now carries No Frizz so my advice is to go to Sephora and spritz it on. It is supposed to smooth dry hair as well as wet. So try it out, it may be the product you are waiting for!

70% Organic Hair Cleanser
Looking for a natural and organic way to groom? These days there are many brands and lines to choose from. Intelligent Nutrients is a health and beauty product company, utilizing 100% food-based and organic certified ingredients. They have a wide range of products including skin care, hair care, aromatics and supplements.
Trying some of the companies products I fell in love with two cleansers; the Certified Organic Anti-Aging Cleanser for the face and the 70% Organic Hair Cleanser. Both of theses cleansers moisturize as they clean and feel and smell great! The descriptions on the website are:
Certified Organic Anti-Aging Cleanser ($45.00 USD) — Gently remove dirt, makeup and impurities while nurturing skin with this non-foaming cleanser. The USDA Certified Organic formula restores and protects with antioxidants, plant sterols, fatty acids and essential oils to help prevent aging and inflammation. A pure combination of the brand’s signature Intellimune Seed Oil Complex along with Argan and Acai help maintain a harmonious balance of moisture for radiant, healthy skin. Suitable for all skin types including mature, dry, sensitive and oily skin.
70% Organic Hair Cleanser ($29.00 USD) — Safe enough for the whole family, this delicate shampoo nourishes with a pure, plant-based formula. Certified organic by the UK’s Soil Association, the light suds rinse clean and leave a soft scent. Formulated with Apple water, Coffee Seed oil and 100% non-toxic plant-based cleansers the gentle blend also nourishes with the antioxidant-rich Intellimune Seed Oil Complex. Safe for color-treated hair.
Like many organic and natural products on the market today, these cleansers have a strong, earthy scent. If you do not like fragrance in your products these are not for you. I really enjoy them and recommend them as well as trying their other products.

Redken has released a haircare line that is for protecting and repairing hair in the summer heat and humidity. The Color Extend Sun Line is touted to “protect highlights, safeguard color and replenish sun-stressed strands. The line includes the following:

I am so excited, as this is my 100th blog post! I started my blog in September 2008. But since January, I have received lots of fantastic products from fab companies to sample and review. I have looked back and found my 5 very favorite products or companies. These items are so good, I would definitely purchase them!
1. Lipstick Queen Big Bang Illusion Gloss ($20.00 USD www.lipstickqueen.com) — is probably the best gloss I have tried. Its light reflecting particles create the illusion of fuller lips without irritating ingredients. And it is creamy, not sticky. FAB!
2. Anything from Kenzo (www.kenzousa.com)! From their fragrances to their skincare items, Kenzo is all about quality and just plain fabulosity! Their scents are very subtle and fresh, like the Eau de Fleur de The – Tea (1.7 oz , $55.00 USD).
3. EcoTools (www.parispresents.com/EcoTools_s/36.htm) Makes the most wonderful — and affordable — makeup brushes and tools and are created from recycled and sustainable materials. I’m really digging the Foundation Brush ($5.99 USD) and the Recycled Aluminum Retractable Kabuki Brush ($7.99 USD) right now, but their are so many to choose from!
4. Tigi Love, Peace & The Planet line is a really fantastic eco-friendly line for your hair. The Eco Awesome Cranberry Orange Mint Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner($19.95 each USD) smells out of this world! It’s not up on the TIGI Website yet, but it should be soon.
5. LUSH (www.lushusa.com) makes lovely fresh handmade bath and beauty items. I really love their bath bombs! What a fun treat. But they also make quality skincare and haircare.
These are just a few of my favorite products that I have tried. I have been so lucky to love almost everything that I have received. You are welcome to peruse my blog for other awesome items that you haven’t tried yet!

I have begun the think about Mother’s Day (May 10th) and what I’m going to get for my mother and mother-in-law. Being a beauty blogger, I love giving products that I have tried and enjoyed. Great hint for your mom or other cool lady you love — Carol’s Daughter!
Talk about pampering! The products from this line are rich, luxurious and soothing and are made from natural ingredients. I recommend trying and giving some of these goodies:
Almond Cookie Shea Souffle ($13.00 – 30.00 USD) — This is a whipped body butter. If you love the scent of almonds, this is a good one! The fragrance is a combination of almonds blended with marzipan, sandalwood and musk. It goes on almond-y and dries down to a powdery scent that lingers all day. Even when I’m not wearing perfume, people comment that I smell so good! And it leaves my skin VERY soft.
If your looking for a highly pigmented lip gloss, try Candy Paint ($13.50 USD). - I like that this moisturizing gloss is not too sticky and that the color is well pigmented. It is infused with natural ingredients such as grapeseed oil, shea butter, aloe vera extract and vitamin E to hydrate, condition, protect and soothe your lips. The gloss comes in 15 shades, so their is a great selection. I really like the Bubbling Brown Sugar which is a shimmering bronze that is much darker in the tube then on. Very pretty!
Tui Hair Smoothie ($19.00 USD) — This is essentially a hair mask that you can leave on a few to about 15 minutes to get the conditioning that you need. It is rich in essential oils and Shea and Cocoa butters that provide moisture and protection. My hair gets very dry and frizzy in the Kansas City humidity and I find that this really helps. And like that its paraben-free and doesn’t include petroleum, mineral oil, or artificial color.Visit the website at www.carolsdaughter.com to check out these and other fantastic products. Enjoy!

Natural Instincts' Golden Cappuccino
For my last review in my hair-stravaganza week, I decided to review a home hair color. In this crazy economical climate, I need to cut at lease a few corners when it comes to beauty. Clairol, a leader in the home hair color arena, is a good one to try.
A few weeks back, I attended a webinar on home hair color featuring Clairol’s Natural Instincts (approximately $9.49 USD). It touted Natural Instincts non-permanent, ammonia free color as a healthy alternative to harsher products. The color lasts through 28 shampoos and is gentle enough to be used once a month.
Something interesting that was featured on the webinar is that you can use a shade that is lighter than your natural hair color, and it won’t change the color, but enhance it.
So far I have tried Golden Cappuccino from the Golden Shimmer collection. It is a dark golden brown that is very pretty. It gave my hair a warm, golden tint. Next I am going to try Clove, a medium ash brown. It’s a very pretty cool color that will add a different hue to my hair.
To check out the different colors and types of Natural Instincts as well as other Clairol hair color, visit the website at www.clairol.com.

Combining this expertise with its continued commitment to innovation, Redken introduces Redken Color Extend, advanced shampoos, conditioners and treatments dedicated to the care and preservation of color-treated hair.
The products in this line are:
Color Extend Shampoo ($13.00 USD 10.1 oz)- Gently cleanses and protects to leave hair manageable, refreshed and shiny.
Color Extend Conditioner ($14.00 USD 8.5 oz)- Detangles and smoothes hair for a finish full of color reflection.
Color Extend Total Recharge ($16.00 USD 5 oz) - Inner hair fuel delivers anti-fade color protection and cuticle reinforcement to maintain color vibrancy and shine.

Color Extend Shine Enrich ($16.00 USD 3.4 oz) - Protects haircolor while helping to seal split ends, smooth flyaways, and impart mirror-like shine.
I really love this line. The shampoo not only cleans and protects, it make the hair super soft. My daughter Abby, whose hair is always a tangled mess, has been trying the shampoo and conditioner and her hair is now extremely comb-able!
After my shower, I like to spray on the Total Recharge, and leave it in. You can rinse it out, but I need all the help my frizzy hair can get! After my hair is dry, I run a little Shine Enrich through it, to give some much-needed shine. Voila! Great hair!
Once or twice a week I like to used the color exctend Rich Recovery. Like a hair mask this makes hair soft, shiny and my color looks so rich. I plan on coloring my hair again this weekend, and I know that the products in this line will help so much!
Visit the Redken website at www.redken.com to purchase the products or to locate a salon near you. Then, enjoy your beautiful hair!
